Red Head Mills Media Loading
Grinding performance is affected by the media size and the weight of the media in the vessel.  Weight can be increased by adding more volume of the same material or by using the same volume of a denser media.  Smaller media or more weight in the vessel will apply more horsepower to the product being ground or dispersed.  This will give a higher fineness of grind or allow a greater throughput.  Smaller media or more weight will also draw more amps and increase temperature (if the throughput stays the same).  Weights of charges for several medias are listed below.  These are suitable for standard operating conditions, but may be adjusted depending on the product.
